I'm going to re-use the Mazda plastic battery tray rather than use the metal one supplied by Westfield. What have people done to adapt the mountings?
I was considering using the standard Mazda top bracket, the "L" bracket and hooked bar on one side then replace the bracket on the other side with a very long eye bolt.
Alternatively thought about using a couple of threaded bars, one on each side and a new top bar.

I made my own using a alu-profile, long bolts and rivnuts. No problems, even driving terrible roads.

looks neat!
I was concerned the alu panel where the bolts go through would deform as alu panel isn't very strong. Do you reinforce it underneath or use very large washers? _________________ Graham

It's a while since I made this, but if I remember, one of the rivnuts is fastened in a frame member, and the battery isn't as heavy as the Miata one, it's a Redtop race battery.

Standard battery tray and set-up on mine. The hook on the back is actually the same mazda part as the front hook but just turned upside down. This in turn is then screwed into a short length of hollow bar which is bolted through the Ali panel with a large spreader washer on the underside.
