Experience? Problems? Possible? I'm getting serious about an order (found a good donor), but I'd love to talk to someone who has actually talked ICBC into registering one. _________________ Happiness isn't around the corner. Happiness is the corner. |

Not that I'm aware of. The DMV or MOT or MTO or whatever your local registration authority is really who you need to talk to. Isn't ICBC for insurance? _________________ Keith

You would think so, but no. Since basic liability insurance is mandatory and must be bought from ICBC, the gov't has rolled all the registration/inspection/emissions role into ICBC. The regulations are still provincial government, but all interaction happens through ICBC. So if you haven't got an emissions pass or a safety inspection, or if you have an outstanding fine, you can't get your registration or insurance. Since you have only one portal for all this, you can't fall through the cracks.
Thanks for the links Smokey - I'm aware of all that, but in Canada vehicle importation is a federal responsibility, while vehicle registration and insurance are provincial and vary from province to province. Hence my interest in what specific experience there has been in BC. _________________ Happiness isn't around the corner. Happiness is the corner. |
